So now I have all these wonderful planning pages but it isn’t always so easy to actually use those long term plans and break them down into daily bits.
After asking around for some help this is the plan I have come up with. I will print out my long term plans in 5 week blocks and I will pencil in my plans for subjects like language arts and maths for each child. I will also on a weekly basis (with an understanding of upcoming events) pencil in the Montessori and Preschool activities. Then on a daily basis (hopefully the evening before) I will handwrite the children’s assignments into their own spiral bound notebook. They will have an idea what is expected out of a day and hopefully work a little better. This daily record will be marked done or the items forwarded if the day does not go to plan (it happens!). It will also become my official record because it will have not only the lesson plan number but the topic also. I can add science and history to each child’s page as it is done but again with lesson number and topic only. For samples of work I intend to notebook both science and history and I will keep a copy of their handwriting work and the SM books.
For my personal records I will be journalling once or a twice a week for each child how they are progressing, things that interested them etc on coloured pages that matches their binders and their stationery items. This will help me see that maybe last year we struggled with percentages but now we get it or that a child is still struggling with certain letters in phonics or writing. It really won’t be the sort of detail the Board of Studies needs to know.
Well, that is the plan. How are your plans going?
Best wishes,
